Norwich City are keen to take Jorge Grant off the hands of Championship rivals Nottingham Forest, but manager Aitor Karanka wants to see him in action.
The future of Jorge Grant has been the subject of plenty of debate at Nottingham Forest.
The highly-rated academy graduate has not really made an impact in Forest’s first-team just yet but, during a loan spell at local rivals Notts County, has really shone.
Grant has scored an impressive 17 goals in 35 games for the League Two high-flyers this season and looks a decent bet for the divisions’ Player of the Year award.
The goal-scoring midfielder’s long-term future at the City Ground has seemed uncertain in recent months with a number of clubs willing to take him off Forest’s hands.
The Nottingham Post adds that Oxford United and Bradford City were said to be readying bids while Sky Sports claimed that Championship rivals Norwich City were also firm admirers of the Bunbury-born 23-year-old.
The Canaries have lost Alex Pritchard and look likely to bid farewell to James Maddison soon, meaning Grant could be seen as a potential replacement.
Grant, who joined Forest in 2013 after a spell in Reading’s academy, has made just 20 first-team appearances for the club and fell out of favour once Mark Warburton was appointed back in march.
But with Warburton gone and Karanka now in his place, Grant has an opportunity to prove that he deserves a second chance at the City Ground. And the fact that Karanka has taken time out of Forest’s FA Cup preparations to watch him is a positive sign.
