Nottingham Forest brought former Celtic defender Saidy Janko back to the Championship on a loan spell from Primeira Liga champions FC Porto.

Nottingham Forest fans are yet to see the best of a number of their summer signings, but Saidy Janko has not waited to make an impact at the City Ground.
The 22-year-old right-back arrived on loan from Porto shortly after Sam Byram was ruled out for a number of months with a serious knee injury. And Janko already looks like an inspired addition, starring on his debut against Swansea City before impressing again in the 2-1 midweek win against Sheffield Wednesday.
While Forest are understood not to have an option to make his loan move permanent next summer, it seems that Aitor Karanka is already hoping to keep the former Celtic and Manchester United man around beyond this season.
“As a manager, of course he is a player you would like to have here for a long time,” Karanka told Nottingham Forest’s official website of Janko, who spent last season at St Etienne in France.

“He is confident and he is growing every single day. So, if we can do something at the end (of his loan spell), it would be perfect.
“I do not think we currently have the (option) in his contract. But I would like to have him here.”
Porto only signed Janko this summer and the Switzerland U21 ace did not make a single appearance for the Primeira Liga champions before being farmed out on loan to Nottingham Forest.
The former European Cup winners are his fifth club since the start of 2016/17 and he could benefit from some stability.
