Leeds United and Premier League duo West Ham and Brighton have all been linked with Amines’ Ligue 1 striker Moussa Konate.
Leeds United might have spent an eight-figure sum on a new number nine, the Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford, but it seems that Marcelo Bielsa wants one more striker before the transfer window shuts.
The Mirror (8 August, page 51) reported that the Amiens striker Moussa Konate is a target after scoring 13 goals in the French top flight last season. Leeds are reportedly planning a £6 million bid for the Senegal international.
And speaking to Get French Football, Konate’s agent has breathed fresh life into speculation linking his 25-year-old client with a move to England.
Djily Dieng admits that Konate is “open to a move to England” and expects offers to arrive soon – potentially before the transfer window shuts at 5pm on Thursday afternoon.
Bielsa is reported to want to strengthen both up top and out wide and the versatile Konate could fill both roles effectively.
Unfortunately for the Argentine gaffer, however, Leeds are facing competition from a number of Premier League clubs. Le10 Sport claim that Brighton have held talks with the former Sion and Genoa frontman.
West Ham United, who need a striker to complete an excellent summer of recruitment, are also keen.
Furthermore, it is reported that Amiens value Konate at around £13 million – so what chance do Leeds have now?
