Premier League leaders Liverpool reportedly want to bring Immobile to Anfield from Serie A outfit Lazio.

Liverpool were linked with an ambitious move for Lazio striker Ciro Immobile during the January transfer window.

After difficult spells at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, the Italy international has finally fulfilled his undoubted potential at the Stadio Olimpico over the last few seasons. Immobile scored 41 goals in all competitions in 2017/18 and has 15 in the current campaign.

And, according to Il Messaggero, Liverpool were interested in bringing the former Torino star to Anfield to perhaps take the pressure off the much-vaunted front three of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

But if The Reds are still keen to land Immobile in the summer, they would face a tough challenge. Because, in quotes reported by The Mirror, the striker’s agent has admitted that Lazio have no plans to cash in.

”There was a very light risk of him leaving. Lazio does not think to deprive itself of Ciro, who is very good for Lazio, it is normal that he is followed by many clubs around the world,” Alessandro Moggi said.

“Should any offer arise again. I do not know if it will happen again, but without doubt it would be sent back to the sender.”

Lazio’s outspoken owner Claudio Lotito is a famously tough negotiator who is usually unwilling to sell his star players for any less than an eye-watering fee, as West Ham United found out when they signed Felipe Anderson in the summer.

According to The Mirror, Immobile is valued at around £45 million.
