Besiktas’ Benfica loanee is a reported Premier League target with Spurs and Manchester United both linked.

You can file some of Tottenham Hotspur’s marquee summer targets in the ‘unlikely’ category.

Spurs simply don’t have the unlimited funds enjoyed by Manchesters United and City so the chances of signing Mauro Icardi, Ciro Immobile or Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, who have been linked via Calcio 24 and The Mirror respectively, seem very slim indeed.

FC Inter News reported this week that Spurs had made an enquiry about Inter Milan flyer Ivan Perisic too but the Serie A giants have made it clear they don’t want to sell a player who was valued at £50 million last summer.

But Anderson Talisca would be the best of both worlds – both an exciting, statement signing which would prove Spurs’ ambition and a player who could genuinely be tempted by a move to North London.

The Brazilian international has starred in two years at Besiktas on loan from Benfica, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young midfielders in European football today. Talisca helped Besiktas win the Super Lig title in 2017 before netting 20 goals in all competitions last season.

There have been plenty of rumours regarding his future of late, O Jogo stating that Manchester United had made a bid of £35 million while Liverpool are understood to be big admirers of a player who could replace compatriot Philippe Coutinho at Anfield.

So reports in Fanatik that Talisca could end up at Tottenham next season should raise expectations ahead of a transfer window that seems crucial for the club’s future.
