Newcastle United and Crystal Palace both reportedly wanted to bring Luka Jovic to the Premier League after 14 Bundesliga goals for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Luka Jovic was linked to both Newcastle United and Crystal Palace over the last few months, but he is reportedly set to sign for La Liga champions Barcelona instead.
The so-called ‘Serbian Falcao’ has been a revelation in the Bundesliga this season, leading the scoring charts with 14 goals in 15 starts in the colours of Eintracht Frankfurt.
In fact, Jovic has established himself as one of the most exciting strikers anywhere in Europe with his electric movement and ice-cool finishing skills attracting plenty of interest.
The Chronicle reported in Autumn that a goal-shy Newcastle United side were keen to bring Jovic to St James’ Park, having scouted him extensively this season. Crystal Palace were also reported to be interested, according to Sky, with Christian Benteke a shadow of his former self.
But it seems that Jovic is on his way to bigger and, with all due respect, better things.

Frankfurter Allgemeine have reported that the red-hot forward has been in talks with the giants of Barcelona and has even agreed a contract ahead of a summer move to the Camp Nou.
A transfer fee is allegedly yet to be agreed, but it seems only a matter of time before Jovic joins Ajax star Frenkie De Jong in Catalonia.
There is little doubt that Jovic could have solved the goal-scoring problems at Newcastle or Crystal Palace. But he is an elite talent in need of an elite club.
