Rangers have been linked with a shock £5million swoop for John McGinn, the star of Scottish Premiership rivals Hibernian.

After months of being linked with a move to Celtic, the Daily Record reported on Friday morning that Rangers have suddenly emerged as a possible destination for John McGinn this summer.
It is understood that Rangers have been scouting the 23-year-old this season and will attempt to make him Steven Gerrard’s first signing in another sign that the Glasgow giants are set to back their new manager with funds in the transfer market.
Despite having just one year left on his contract at Easter Road, the Daily Record reports that Hibernian value the 23-year-old McGinn at around £5 million.

But if you ask Hibernian fans, the chances of their highly-rated Scotland international wearing the royal blue of Rangers next season are rather slim.
After all, the last time Rangers tried to sign an exciting young midfielder from Easter Road, they were left frustrated. The BBC claimed in 2015 that Scott Allan had told Hibs chiefs that he wanted to move to Ibrox yet ended the summer as a Celtic player.
And Hibs fans seem to believe their club will greet Rangers’ reported interest with a similar response now.

After all, with a number of Premier League clubs allegedly interested in McGinn, why would Hibs sell one of their most important players to a direct rival?
