Is Nadir Ciftci the worst signing in Celtic’s recent history? The Scottish Premiership champions bought him from Dundee United for £1.5million.

Celtic have had to endure some rather dodgy strikers in recent seasons, from Teemu Pukki to Amido Balde.
But Nadir Cifcti, for price-tag and longevity, is right up there among the worst. A £1.5 million signing from Dundee United in 2015, the striker managed four goals in 26 games for the Scottish Premiership giants.
He had not made an appearance for Celtic since February 2017.

And Sky Sports is now reporting that Ciftci will be allowed to leave on a free despite the fact he has a year left on his contract. Obviously, Celtic felt they would struggle to find a buyer for a player who failed to score a single goal in eight games on loan at League One side Plymouth Argyle last season.
It has been a torrid few years for the one-time Portsmouth youngster. He quickly fell out of favour at Plymouth after being heavily criticised by supporters and a previous loan spell at Polish minnows Pogon Szczencin the season before did not go much better.
“Expectations were high when he arrived, perhaps too high,” manager Kazimierz Moskal said in quotes reported by the Daily Record.

It is fair to say, then, that Ciftci will not be missed at Celtic. In fact, some fans obviously thought he jad already gone.
