Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are set to face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals with Derby County loanee Max Lowe expected to start.

There may be more than a place in the Scottish Cup semi-final in Rangers’ sights as they prepare to face Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.
We are in March now and the summer transfer window is not too far away. And Gers boss Steven Gerrard should be fully aware that a new left-back is needed at Ibrox.
Borna Barisic has struggled for form since he returned from a calf injury, Andy Halliday is a midfielder by trade and the less said about the much-maligned Jon Flanagan the better.
So there is one Aberdeen player in particular that Rangers should keep an eye on this weekend – the Derby County loanee Max Lowe.

The 21-year-old has been a big hit under Derek McInnes with his rapid pace and attacking style earning him plenty of admirers. And he could be exactly what Rangers are missing; a natural left-sided option to compete with the Croatia international Barisic in Gerrard’s starting XI.
It remains to be seen what Derby’s plans are for the highly-rated Lowe. But with Scott Malone, Marcus Olsson and Craig Forsyth already in The Rams’ squad, and Ashley Cole having signed in January with a longer deal potentially in the pipeline, there may be space for Lowe to go out on loan again.
If he returns to Scotland, Rangers should be front of the queue.
