Derek McInnes’s Aberdeen beat Steven Gerrard’s Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup quarter-final this week.

Connor McLennan has admitted he was left speechless after scoring Aberdeen’s clinching goal in their 2-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win at Ibrox on Tuesday night, speaking to the Evening Express.
Steven Gerrard’s Rangers hosted The Dons in Glasgow after a 1-1 draw in Pittordrie sent the tie to a replay. But their hopes of ending a seven year trophy drought are over after Derek McInnes’ side triumphed in one of their most impressive performances of the season.
Niall McGinn profited from a dreadful Glen Kamara error to give Aberdeen the lead before McLennan sealed the win, the boyhood fan coolly converting past Allan McGregor to send his side into the semi-finals.
And the 19-year-old admits that he could scarcely believe what had happened after scoring just hs third goal in Aberdeen colours.
“It was brilliant – I was speechless. I’ve got my mum and dad, who come to every game, in the crowd, and my brother,” McLennan said.

“It was just brilliant to get that goal and get a cushion to see out the rest of the game. It was some experience.”
This was the second time this season that Rangers have lost to Aberdeen in a cup. They were defeated 1-0 at Hampden Park back in October, the former Ibrox youngster Lewis Ferguson netting the winner to set up a Scottish League Cup final meeting with Celtic.
