Southampton reportedly wanted to bring Denmark winger Pione Sisto to the Premier League from La Liga outfit Celta Vigo.

When Pione Sisto is on his day, he can be electric. Unfortunately for the Denmark fans who travelled to the Idraetspark Stadium in Aarhus on Sunday, the Celta Vigo winger was far from on song during their Nations League opener against Wales.
Only Lionel Messi produced more assists than Sisto in La Liga last season and he’s started the 2018/19 campaign in fine style too, scoring a stunning individual goal in a match-winning performance away at Levante before the international break.
If Sisto’s form in Spain showed why Southampton were interested, according to The Mail, his display against Ryan Giggs’ Wales shows that the 23-year-old still has a long way to go.

Because pretty much everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong for the former Midtjylland left-winger on Sunday. He overhit passes, ballooned a number of simple balls straight out of play and ran relentlessly down dark alleys before being hassled off the ball.
It was no surprise when he was subbed off at half-time.
With a £36 million release-clause in his contract and valued by Celta at half that (The Sun), Sisto could represent excellent value for money on his day. But any Saints fans who watched him this weekend would have endured unhelpful memories of one Sofiane Boufal, a frustrating winger with erratic end product.
