Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers could sign Alfred N’Diaye permanently from La Liga side Villarrael at the end of this season.

Alfred N’Diaye is in his third spell in English football and it’s fair to say he will be enjoying this one more than the others.

The Senegal international endured a distinctly forgettable 2013/14 season at Sunderland and was relegated with Hull City only last year. However, since moving to Wolves on loan from La Liga giants Villarreal, N’Diaye has been a central figure in arguably the best side ever seen at Championship level.

N’Diaye even produced arguably his best performance in a Wolves shirt during the 2-2 draw with Norwich City in midweek and has now scored in two of his last three appearances.

On the other hand, however, just nine of his 23 Championship appearances have come from the start with Ruben Neves often flanked by the Moroccan international Romain Saiss at the heart of Nuno Espirito Santo’s midfield.

So the Black Country side will have a decision to make at the end of the season with AS reporting that they have an option to sign N’Diaye permanently for £8.2 million.

To make the call even more difficult, it is understood that Wolves will have to pay Villarreal a fine of £2 million if they eventually decide against striking a deal for a player who struggled to make an impression on the Castellon Coast following a decent spell at Real Betis.

Wolves have money to burn and, when promotion is assured, will be targeting players capable of stepping up immediately to Premier League level, and if N’Diaye is not a regular starter in the Championship, will he really be good enough the division above?
