One year after leaving Scottish Premiership giants Celtic, Lyon striker Dembele is being linked with Ligue 1 champions PSG and Atletico Madrid.
Just nine months ago, Moussa Dembele’s prolific, trophy laden spell at Celtic came to a rather inevitable and somewhat bitter end.
After making it clear that he did not want to stay for a third season in Glasgow, the France U21 international engineered a return to his homeland by joining Lyon on transfer deadline day for a fee of £20 million, according to the Independent.
But, while some Celtic fans, not to mention manager Brendan Rodgers, were far from impressed by his conduct, Dembele’s decision to leave looks to have been clearly justified.
The 22-year-old has certainly enhanced his reputation by proving that he can score goals in a top European league, finding the back of the net 19 times for Bruno Genesio’s Lyon.
And, according to L’Equipe, his impressive form at the Stade OL could have paved the way for a huge move to Paris Saint-Germain or Atletico Madrid.
The Ligue 1 champions are interested in Dembele, who could potentially replace the veteran Edinson Cavani, while he seemingly has an admirer in the shape of Diego Simeone, too; a manager who has a track record when it comes to turning young talents into reliable, world-class performers.
These days, Dembele will cost about £42 million, meaning he has more than doubled his market value in less than 12 months.
The striker might not have left Celtic in the right way but it seems he’s made the correct decision for his career.
