Wolverhampton Wanderers will reportedly break their transfer record for Monaco’s Ligue 1 wonder-kid Badiashile.

We all know by now that Wolverhampton Wanderers are not afraid to splash the cash in an attempt to bring some of Europe’s most exciting young talents to Molineux.
But paying a club-record £35 million for an 18-year-old centre-back? That would be a huge statement, even for a club who have broken their transfer record five times since Fosun International took control three years ago.
According to L’Equipe, Wolves are prepared to pay big, very big, for Monaco’s teenage defender Benoit Badiashile.
The teenager has just 20 Ligue 1 appearances under his belt and is perhaps best known for being on the wrong end of a withering Thierry Henry glare when he neglected to tuck in his chair at the end of a pre-match press conference.
But there is more to Badiashile than the odd six-second viral clip.
Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Manchester City were all rumoured to be interested back in 2018, before Badiashile had even made his debut for Monaco in the French top flight, according to FootMercato.
In truth, the excitement surrounding his emergence draws plenty of parallels with a certain Kylian Mbappe, who was also tipped for the top and linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs before we’d even seen him in action.
So with Wolves prepared to pay a staggering £35 million, they obviously feel they’ve spotted a unique talent – one they really don’t want to miss out on.
