Championship giants Leeds United are hoping to bring Gavin Whyte to Elland Road after a brilliant season with Crusaders in Northern Ireland.

Gavin Whyte is not exactly a household name in and around Elland Road. But maybe Leeds United fans should start to check out this exciting Northern Ireland U21 international.
Now, the 22-year-old is not exactly the marquee signing fans were dreaming of: a powerful, commanding centre-back or the proven, prolific Championship marksman. But Whyte has done everything he can to justify Leeds’ interest – and has capped a fine season by being named the Ulster Footballer of the Year, a gong awarded to the best player in Northern Ireland.

“I’m very proud to win this award,” Whyte told the Belfast Telegraph.
“It’s a great honour. Hopefully now we can go and win the title. I’ve won two titles with Crusaders previously and winning it again this weekend would be incredible.”
Whyte has scored 21 goals this season from the right wing, putting Crusaders on the verge of a third league title in four years. So Leeds fans should be very excited by the prospect of Whyte getting his big break at Elland Road over the summer.

Ireland has provided English football with some brilliant bargain signings over the last couple of years, with the likes of Kevin Doyle, Seamus Coleman and Shane Long moving across the sea for minimal fees.
Whyte could be the latest.
