Lazar Markovic left Liverpool for Fulham on loan in January but he has played just 45 minutes of Premier League football for the relegated Cottagers.

Lazar Markovic’s move to Fulham in January looked like an ideal opportunity for both player and club.
Markovic had tumbled well down the pecking order at Liverpool and had been handed a chance to prove that he does have the quality to play Premier League football.
Fulham, meanwhile, signed a gifted winger who was once compared to a certain Mr Messi before joining the Reds from Benfica for £20 million, as reported by the BBC.
But a switch that looked perfect on paper has been anything but in reality.
Fulham’s relegation from the Premier League was confirmed on Tuesday after a typically error-strewn 4-1 defeat at Watford. Markovic was nowhere to be seen, left out of the match day squad for the seventh time in nine games since he swapped Anfield for Craven Cottage.

In fact, the Serbian has only played 45 minutes of football for Fulham, starting the 3-1 defeat to West Ham in February before being hooked at half time thanks in part to a calf strain.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Markovic was on a £50,000-a-week deal at Liverpool and it was no surprise when he was released in January, Jurgen Klopp’s side taking a £20 million hit.
But the 25-year-old’s sorry descent has shown no sign of coming to an end.
