Newcastle United reportedly watched Badou Ndiaye before he moved to the Premier League with Stoke City in the January transfer window.
Rafa Benitez is understood to be a big fan of Badou Ndiaye – and the Senegal midfielder appears to have plenty of admirers among the Newcastle United supporters too.
The Mail reported back in January that The Magpies were hoping to bring Ndiaye to St James’ Park from Super Lig giants Galatasaray. But, as was indicative of another hugely frustrating transfer window on Tyneside, Newcastle lost out with Premier League rivals Stoke City paying £14 million for his signature.
But now that Stoke have been relegated Ndiaye is expected to be on the move again – and The Chronicle suggests that Newcastle could renew their interest so long as The Potters are willing to accept cut-price offers for the 27-year-old.
With Mikel Merino seemingly on his way out, it seems that Ndiaye would be a welcome addition at Newcastle. He is a powerful and dynamic midfielder capable of playing in the box to box role or in a more advanced position. Ndiaye even earned himself a reputation as a reliable goalscorer during his time with Osmanlispor.
But with Fanatik claiming that Wolves have made the first move, offering £22 million, have Newcastle already left it too late? Fans will be hoping that isn’t the case.
