Rangers, Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United were among the clubs interested in signing Aaron Amadi-Holloway in the summer of last year.

Aaron Amadi-Holloway was a man in demand during the spring of 2016. After earning rave reviews during a loan spell at Oldham Athletic for Wycombe Wanderers, the Daily Record reported that Scottish giants Rangers were interested in making the striker one of their first signings ahead of their return to the top flight.
Wigan Athletic and Rotherham United were also reported to be interested in a player who had overcome a series of injury problems to look like one of the most exciting young talents in the Football League.
Since being linked with Mark Warburton’s Rangers 18 months ago, Amadi-Holloway has embarked on a barren run in front of goal that appears to have put pay to any hopes he might have had of leading the line at Ibrox.

The former Wales youth star has not scored a league goal since netting twice in Oldham’s 3-2 home defeat to Rochdale in March 2016.
Amadi-Holloway eventually joined Fleetwood Town that following summer but, after failing to find the net in 21 League One games, returned to Oldham Athletic. Though the form that saw him stand out during that initial loan spell has deserted the 24-year-old so far.
Six league games into the 2017/18 season, Amadi-Holloway is yet to trouble the vidiprinter.

Therefore, it’s difficult to imagine how Amadi-Holloway could have improved Rangers’ striking options after a run of no goals in 29 games. Overall, he has just eight in 98 league games across his entire career.
Rangers, then, will be happy to make do with Alfredo Morelos for the time being.
