Two young strikers have been linked with Scottish Premiership giants Rangers – Fleetwood Town’s Devante Cole and Nottingham Forest’s Jason Cummings.

Goals have not have been an issue on paper for Rangers this season. Graeme Murty’s side have scored eight more than second placed Aberdeen in 2017/18 while netting just seven less than runaway leaders Celtic.

But with Kenny Miller edging nearer to retirement and Eduardo Herrera set for a swift January exit, according to The Scottish Sun, it appears that Rangers are keen to add another man to their front line this month. And there are two names in the frame as things stand.

According to The Sun, Rangers are keen to sign Fleetwood Town’s Devante Cole on a pre-contract agreement with his deal at the League One side set to expire at the end of this season.

And the Sunday Post adds that Jason Cummings, who Rangers have been tracking since his days at Hibernian, could be on his way to Ibrox this month, provided that the Glasgow giants meet Nottingham Forest’s £1 million asking price.

But while Cummings has scored nine fewer league goals than Cole this season, and would cost £1 million more, would he be the better addition?

Former Manchester City youngster Cole, son of United legend Andy, is clearly a talented prospect having scored at an impressive rate for Fleetwood over the last 18 months, firing them into the League One play-offs last season.

But Cummings has the added advantage of knowing Scottish football like the back of his hand. He became the first player in over 50 years to break the 20-goal barrier in three successive campaigns for Hibs.

And while Cole is something of an unknown quantity north of the border, Rangers know just how good Cummings can be. He terrorised them in a Championship clash in November 2015, scoring in a 2-1 Hibs win at Easter Road.

It remains to be seen, however, which young striker Rangers will go all out for.
