Celtic are reportedly hoping to bring Omar Elabdellaoui to the Scottish Premiership, after he was linked with Manchester United.
Celtic appear to have identified another right-back target as their search for a Mikael Lustig replacement goes on.
The Hoops missed out on Cristiano Piccini when the Italian moved to Valencia and were left disappointed when Conner Roberts signed a long-term contract with Swansea City, too.
And, according to the Daily Record, any attempts to sign Belgian international Timothy Castagne have hit a brick wall to with Atalanta demanding £10 million.
As a result, the report adds that Celtic have now turned their attention towards the Norwegian flyer Omar Elabdellaoui. The Olympiacos defender is understood to have emerged as a target for the Hoops, with a bargain £4 million price-tag on his head.
And, interestingly, these links have emerged just two-and-a-half years after Elabdellaoui was linked with a switch to Manchester United, highlighting the potential of a player who spent time in City’s academy during his teenage years.
The Mail reported that the then-£10 million rated Elabdellaoui was on United’s radar, with his agent Jim Solbakken confirming interest from within Old Trafford.
So, with this in mind, Celtic could be pulling off a real bargain of a deal if Olympiacos are willing to accept a reduced £4 million fee.
