Sunderland veteran Lee Cattermole has picked up eight yellow cards this term.

Sunderland have had some standout players who have contributed to their impressive League One campaign after 15 matches.
Those eye-catching players include Chris Maguire and Josh Maja, but the unsung hero in Jack Ross’s side has been veteran midfielder Lee Cattermole, who has completely turned around his dismal form of the past two years.
In an interview with the Sunderland Echo, Cattermole has admitted he has been surprised by one particular aspect of life in the third tier.
When speaking about his season in League One so far, Cattermole said: “When you come down the leagues you hear how competitive it is, but I’ve been surprised at how soft yellow cards have been handed out.
“It’s something I’ve always had but I play on the edge, I’ve always played competitively like that. I’m going to pick yellow cards up, I’ve probably picked up more this season for soft yellow cards than I was expecting.”

Cattermole, who has already been suspended for one game against Peterborough United last month, has picked up eight yellow cards in 14 matches this term and will get another suspension if he receives two more cautions.
One good aspect of Cattermole’s game this season has been his obvious leadership in the anchor role, while also possessing a decent threat in front of goal with three goals and two assists to date.
