Sunderland winger Lynden Gooch has six assists in League One this season.

Sunderland’s good start to an important season in League One has been spearheaded by some of their impressive attacking talent, including Josh Maja and Chris Maguire.
19-year-old Maja has nine goals in 14 matches and currently tops the scoring charts in the third tier, while fan favourite Maguire has four goals, including the winning strike against Doncaster Rovers in midweek.
Both men have been excellent, but Sunderland also have some other key members of their squad who perhaps do not get the plaudits they deserve, including Lynden Gooch, who has been excellent this season.
22-year-old Gooch has a magnificent six assists in the 12 matches he has featured in this term and his position on the right wing has seen the American cause problems to practically every defence he has come up against.
Gooch also has three goals, including a late winner on the opening day against Charlton Athletic. But his creativity and, most noticeably, his willingness to get the ball into the box without hesitation have proved to be huge for his side.

Gooch’s partnership with fellow academy graduate Maja has been a hugely positive thing for Sunderland manager Jack Ross, and the Wearside faithful are desperate for that to continue.
Arguably most importantly has been Gooch having the ability and desire to help his side out defensively, working tirelessly throughout every game he plays; the match away to Doncaster Rovers was a perfect example of that.
