Sunderland play Rochdale this weekend in an all-important fixture for the Black Cats.

Sunderland youngster Denver Hume was dropped from the squad in the Black Cats’ recent game against Burton Albion.
The full-back was replaced with this season’s impressive performer Bryan Oviedo on the Costa Rican’s return from international duty.
But after Adam Matthews’ recent displays in Sunderland’s first-team, Hume should be the man to play at right back against Rochdale this weekend.
The Black Cats face a tough task against a resurgent Rochdale side this weekend, especially after going without a win in their last three.
Matthews’ performances have been on the decline since the Welshman gave away a late penalty against Fleetwood Town a few games ago.
And after Hume’s performances which made the youngster look beyond his years at right-back, his unflavoured side, the academy graduate has to be given another chance.

Hume’s best performance actually came at home to Fleetwood in the absence of Oviedo, with the forward showing great composure in both defence and attack in his first start of this season.
And given Sunderland’s recent defensive frailties, Ross will be looking for just that and Hume has to be the man to slot into the right-back position against Keith Hill’s side on Saturday.
