Sunderland’s Denver Hume has impressed when he has featured at full-back this season.

Sunderland youngster Denver Hume has been featuring more for Jack Ross’s side of late, with his latest appearance coming in the Checkatrade Trophy win over Stoke City Under-21s.
The Black Cats prospect has been playing at right-back, the opposite side to his favoured position, but he looks to have flourished since his inclusion by manager Jack Ross.
Despite playing in an unnatural position, the 22-year-old is adamant the new era on Wearside is great for youngsters hoping to shine at first-team level in an interview with the Northern Echo.
When speaking about young players getting first-team game time, Hume said: “I think it’s great we are getting chances. A couple of names like Bali Mumba and Maja have been mentioned regularly and I think it’s great that the staff have given us that opportunity.
“What they’ve said to us is that if you’re good enough, you’re old enough as well. If we keep working hard and do everything they say I think they will give us a chance.”

Ross handed Hume his first start of the new campaign at home to Sheffield Wednesday in Sunderland’s first-round Carabao Cup exit at the Stadium of Light.
But, after impressing in midweek in Sunderland’s Checkatrade Trophy match, talks of Hume starting at full-back against Fleetwood Town to replace Bryan Oviedo – who is away on international duty – are circulating among the Black Cats faithful.
