Sunderland signed Chris Maguire from Bury earlier this summer.

Sunderland have made some decent signings over their years as an established Premier League side, but this season required a rebuild on Wearside as they embarked on League One.
The Black Cats’ best bit of business came back in 2015, when Jermain Defoe – who went on to score 34 goals in Sunderland colours – signed on a free transfer as part of a swap deal with flop Jozy Altidore.
But this summer saw the arrival of Chris Maguire on a free from Bury and, up to now, that transfer is arguably just as good as any business the Wearside club have made in their history.
Maguire has bagged three goals and provided three assists in his time with Sunderland, but his passion to play for Jack Ross’s side and creativity in wide areas has made him a fan favourite after just 12 third tier games.
The 29-year-old’s best game came against Peterborough United in early October and the Scot was at the heart of everything great for the hosts that evening, including a fine goal which Maguire set up.

The player, who was written off with his former clubs in recent years, looks a steal for the Black Cats and seemingly has his best days ahead of him with the former Premier League regulars.
The former Aberdeen player will be eyeing promotion with his side this season and Maguire could be a huge asset in the Championship.
