Sunderland’s Bryan Oviedo is currently suspended for kicking out at a Peterborough United player.

Sunderland had a big rebuild on their hands earlier in the summer, with 12 new faces arriving on Wearside, all of whom have bedded into Jack Ross’s side nicely.
Costa Rica international Bryan Oviedo was one of the few remaining players who stayed on with the Black Cats, and the full-back has been good for the majority of the campaign.
Despite impressing in patches in the first quarter of the campaign, Sunderland should still consider selling the 28-year-old in January.
Sunderland have had a number of breakthrough youngsters over the past few years and this season’s talisman Josh Maja is one of the best academy graduates.
Left-back Denver Hume has also came through and, despite Oviedo looking dangerous in attack, it is actually Hume who looks the better option at full-back.
Both Hume and Oviedo are currently unavailable via injury and suspension, so it has been left to summer arrival Reece James to cover in defence, and the former Wigan Athletic man has already made a name for himself.

Although Oviedo is clearly a good option for Sunderland’s current playing level in the third tier, his services are costly with high weekly wages, and it makes sense for both parties if the player moves on in January.
The former Everton man’s high wage demands could certainly be used elsewhere, re-invested into other avenues and, with Hume and James more than capable of holding down the left-back spot, Sunderland simply have to cash in on Oviedo.
