Sunderland have made 12 signings this summer in a total rebuild on Wearside.
Sunderland have made a number of shrewd additions to their side for life in League One and Jack Ross’s side have began the season unbeaten in their first two fixtures.
The Black Cats have welcomed 12 new arrivals on Wearside, which could see some promising youngsters like Elliot Embleton and Luke Molyneux get very few minutes in the first-team this season.
Therefore, Sunderland should look at loaning the two talented players out to a side in a division below or north of the border in order to aid their development.
Two of Sunderland’s first-team stars of their opening two third-tier games Lynden Gooch and George Honeyman, both broke on to the scene after successful spells on loan at Gateshead.
And, with Sunderland’s squad set to be extremely competitive for places once players return from injury, Embleton and Molyneux will likely be stuck in the Under-23 setup, which is certainly a level below their current standard.
Fourth tier sides would be chomping at the bit to get hold of a player of Embleton’s quality for a short period, especially after his displays in the Under-19 European Championships in Finland earlier this summer.
20-year-old Molyneux made an appearances as a substitute in Sunderland’s opener against Charlton Athletic earlier this month but, like his Under-23 teammate, he could also benefit from a stint on elsewhere to gain experience.
42-year-old Ross will certainly have a selection headache once his sidelined players return in the coming months, but that would be made a whole lot easier if the Scot was to send his two promising prospects on loan before the window shuts later this month.
