Sunderland signed Luke O’Nien from Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the summer.

Sunderland signed an exciting prospect in midfielder Luke O’Nien in the summer, after the player arrived from promoted League Two side Wycombe Wanderers.
O’Nien was excellent during his time with the Chairboys, which led Black cats boss Jack Ross to make a move for the midfielder.
But after a tough start, which has seen the former Watford youngster play a handful of games on Wearside, O’Nien might be regretting his move to the former Premier League regulars.
O’Nien bagged nine goals and four assists for Wycombe across all competitions last season.
And, despite such success with his former side, a move to a club the size of Sunderland would have undoubtedly been hard to turn down.
After making just five appearances in the third tier, and looking considerably down the Sunderland midfield pecking order after struggling to find his feet in Ross’s side, O’Nien might be regretting his summer move.

The Sunderland man has obvious talent, shown in last season’s campaign, but O’Nien has to begin to display that talent when he gets his chance in future matches.
With the Black Cats’ League One schedule heating up – with three games in the next seven days – the midfielder will surely get that chance to showcase his ability.
