Sunderland appointed Jack Ross as their new manager back in May.

Sunderland manager Jack Ross has now been in charge on Wearside for six months and the 42-year-old Scot has made an impressive start in his first job in England.
The Black Cats boss has guided his side to third in the League One table and, in 18 competitive matches, his side have lost just twice, with one of those defeats coming against Sheffield Wednesday in the Carabao Cup.
Sunderland’s executive director Charlie Methven has given his honest verdict of Ross’s tenure so far in a recent interview with the Sunderland Echo.
When speaking about Sunderland manager Ross, Methven said: “I think we said that around Christmas we hoped we’d be in and around the top six, to give us a platform to push on in the second half of the season. So where we are now, third with a game in hand, is probably a bit ahead where we thought we would be.
“So overall, thus far, cautiously with fingers crossed, I’d give it a good 7.5/10. There are things that could be perfect but that would be a bit greedy and a bit presumptuous. If you’d given us this, on and off the pitch, six months ago we’d have taken it and taken it gladly.”

The Black Cats will be hoping to maintain their good start, and Ross will be hoping for his side to guard against any complacency that would see their brilliant work undone.
With the former Premier League regulars in possibly the best form of all of the 24 teams in the division, promotion is firmly in Sunderland’s hands ahead of what is set to be a hectic winter schedule.
