Sunderland signed Max Power from Wigan Athletic in the summer.

Sunderland fans would be forgiven for feeling a sense of deja vu at the Bescot Stadium last weekend when midfielder Max Power was sent off for a third time this season.
The Birkenhead-born player had been clumsy with his previous two tackles, but last weekend’s straight-red seemed to be harsh and after appealing the suspension, the FA agreed that the card should be rescinded.
Power is now available for selection ahead of Sunderland’s hectic winter schedule and manager Jack Ross is pleased to have his man available. In an interview with the Sunderland Echo, the Scot labelled the player as a ‘brilliant character’.
When speaking about Power’s recent situation with suspension, Ross said: “I felt for him not because I’m soft because he’s a brilliant character and professional.
“He works incredibly hard. He’s in at the Academy at 8 o’clock, doing extra work.
“There’s not been one single bit of me, even for a second, that has ever thought he is a wrong’un in any way.”

The on-loan Latic has shown his class in patches this season and has often looked a level above League One in a Sunderland shirt.
Power will definitely benefit from a long stint in the first-team though, which would be good for both the player and the former Premier League regulars – especially with the sometimes dreaded winter schedule just around the corner.
