Sunderland midfielder Luke Molyneux is one of the most talented players in the Under-23 setup.
Sunderland youngster Luke Molyneux is a midfielder with big potential, and the 20-year-old showed glimpses of what he’s capable of from the bench against Charlton Athletic and Luton Town.
Suggestions have been made that Molyneux could move away from Wearside on a loan spell in order to help his development, especially now Sunderland have several players who would likely feature ahead of the tricky midfielder.
However, in an interview with the Sunderland Echo, Black Cats manager Jack Ross has hinted that the player could remain on Wearside this season, rather than moving out on loan.
On his plans for Molyneux, Ross said: “I think where he’s at in his progression is probably more ready to face first-team football at our level. Luke is one who, although he plays out wide, can player in a higher area and has done through his career.” Ross said.
Molyneux’s has featured twice this season from the bench and the Sunderland Academy starlet has looked lively on both occasions, playing with no fear.
The manager will see his focus turn to Sunderland’s first domestic cup game of the season against Sheffield Wednesday on Thursday night, and Molyneux could be one of the youngsters who features.
