Sunderland have made an excellent start under new management and ownership this season.
Sunderland have been fantastic in League One since their change of ownership and management in the summer and the Black Cats remain unbeaten so far this season.
Chairman Stewart Donald took over the club and made the appointment of Scotsman Jack Ross, both of whom have been pivotal in the Black Cats’ turnaround.
And in an interview with the Northern Echo, Ross admitted Sunderland’s previous ownership got too many decisions wrong during their tenure on Wearside.
When speaking about Sunderland’s previous owners, Ross said: “I’m not casting aspersions over the people who have been here in the past and made decisions, but they’ve probably got too many wrong.
“You’re always going to get some wrong – I’ve got ones wrong in the past, and I’m sure I’ll continue to do that. It’s impossible to get every single player you recruit right, but you have to get more right than you don’t.”
Sunderland still have a long way to go before fans on Wearside can begin to once again dream big, but early signs this season suggest promotion back to the Championship is a very strong possibility.
And last season’s Scottish manager of the year has certainly looked like an excellent appointment up to now, something that Sunderland’s new owners have to be given credit for.
