Sunderland have been searching the loan window for another striker to add to their squad.
Sunderland have began the season with just one fit striker, with the Black Cats heavily reliant on 19-year-old Josh Maja to score the goals.
Jack Ross has a long injury list, which includes three senior strikers and Sunderland have been exploring the loan market to bolster their attacking options.
On Sunderland’s striker search, Ross said: “We probably could have done one or two names for the sake of it, but I’m loath to do that.
“It might just appease people externally if we’ve got another striker into the squad, but if it’s not going to add quality to what we’re trying to do at the club, then I think we’re better trying to find ways to make the best of what we have just now.”
Sunderland have been heavily reliant on Maja in their opening three games of the season, but the youngster has certainly stepped up to the mark, scoring two in two games in League One.
The Wearside team were knocked out of the EFL Cup on Thursday evening, after a 2-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday.
But Ross and his men now turn their attention to the biggest priority, with Sunderland set to take on Scunthorpe United in the league on Sunday afternoon.
