Sunderland signed midfielder Dylan McGeouch from Hibernian earlier in the summer.

Dylan McGeouch signed for Sunderland with a lot of expectation and in pre-season the Scottish midfielder performed very well, often standing out in Jack Ross’ side.
The former Hibernian man picked up an injury which ruled him out of the start of the League One campaign and on his return, the 25-year-old struggled to live up to the expectation the Black Cats faithful placed upon him.
McGeouch however has looked better as of late and in an interview with the Sunderland Echo, his new manager and fellow countryman Ross admitted he was pleased with how the 25-year-old was progressing.
When speaking about McGeouch, 42-year-old Ross said: “I’ve been pleased with how he’s performed in the last couple of games. We are encouraging him to continue to have that belief to affect the game in forward areas because he has got the ability to do that.
“Psychologically I think it’s been good for him to contribute for 90 minutes, not just to two wins but two tough wins away from home as well.”

McGeouch has been involved in two big wins for Sunderland, the 2-0 triumph over Shrewsbury and more recently against Doncaster Rovers in a 1-0 win at the Keepmoat Stadium.
And the Scot is arguably un-droppable in his current form, meaning teammate Max Power, who had been a regular feature in midfield prior to his second suspension, could struggle to get back into the Sunderland starting line-up.
