Sunderland made 12 additions to their League One side in the summer.

Sunderland have been terrific so far this season, losing just once in League One and the former Premier League side now find themselves in second after an eight-game winning run.

Jack Ross and the Black Cats hierarchy made 12 signings over the summer, with all of those making their mark on the side in different way this term.

The Wearside faithful would still no doubt be keen to see some new faces through the door to aid their campaign in January, but manager Ross admitted he is content with his current set-up in an interview with the Sunderland Echo.

When speaking about potential transfers in January, the Scot said: “We had a huge period of work in the summer, a really big transitional period with a high turnover of players, we won’t need to do a huge amount.

“I think I am blessed with a reasonably balanced squad and the numbers are okay, they fit with how I work.

“There is maybe one to two areas we would look at but we are still six weeks away from it. Although the planning process is under way there is no anxiety about it and I am more than pleased with what the players have given me to date.”

Sunderland have strength in depth for their hectic third-tier campaign, which has perhaps been the difference in securing a spot in the automatic promotion places – as well as their obvious class in specific areas.

Ross’ weakest position is arguably up front, and although 19-year-old Josh Maja has took his goal-tally to double figures, that could be one area the former St Mirren boss looks to strengthen in – especially with Charlie Wyke and Duncan Watmore likely to take some time to get back to full fitness after long-term injuries.
