Sunderland forward Josh Maja has seven goals in nine matches in League One this season.

Sunderland forward Josh Maja has been nothing short of excellent in League One this season, scoring seven goals in nine matches.
The 19-year-old currently tops the scoring charts in the third tier and a report from the Chronicle earlier this week suggested contract talks between the Black Cats and Maja were set to take place.
And in an interview with the Chronicle, Sunderland manager Jack Ross has expressed his desire to keep the talisman on Wearside.
When speaking about Maja, Ross said: “The desire for us to keep him at the club is absolutely concrete. That’s not just because of how he’s started the season, it was there from when I first started to work with him.
“We want to make sure he stays here at Sunderland, we want to make sure he plays a part in the club’s progression back to where we want to be. I think he’s happy at the minute and enjoying his football.”

The Black Cats lost another prospect and friend of Maja, Joel Asoro, when the attacker left Sunderland join Swansea City earlier in the summer.
And both the club and Ross will be keen to keep hold of Maja for years to come, especially after the young striker has seemingly improved dramatically since becoming a regular part of the former St Mirren manager’s side this term.
