Sunderland were taken over by former Eastleigh Chairman Stewart Donald earlier in the summer.

Sunderland made some excellent additions to their side in the summer ahead of League One, with 12 new faces arriving through the door on Wearside.
Arguably the best addition in a new era with the Black Cats was last season’s manager of the year north of the border, Jack Ross, who moved to Sunderland from St Mirren.
The Wearside team have also let some players go, with the latest being goalkeeper Max Stryjek, who has moved on loan to Eastleigh and the transfer is yet more excellent business from Ross and new owner Stewart Donald.
22-year-old Stryjek has been with Sunderland since 2015, but no league appearances in the Premier League or Championship has seen his career go stale and the Warsaw-born stopper has moved on loan to National League side Eastleigh.
The Black Cats currently have the impressive Jon McLaughlin in between the sticks, but the Scot is in the latter stages of his career and Sunderland are clearly planning long-term with Stryjek’s move.

From the few appearances the Polish goalkeeper has made in Sunderland colours, Stryjek looks to be an excellent young talent and an excellent penalty save in his first appearance with his new club is evidence of that.
The move is a shrewd one for both club and player, with the former Accrington Stanley loanee getting valuable experience in the lower leagues, whilst League One Sunderland are likely to reap the benefits of this in the long run.
