Sunderland’s young full-back Denver Hume received the man of the match accolade against Fleetwood Town.

Young Sunderland full-back Denver Hume has been nothing short of magnificent since his introduction to the Black Cats first-team this season.
The 22-year-old’s most impressive display came in Sunderland’s recent 1-1 draw with Fleetwood Town last weekend, but Hume has impressed each time he has pulled on the famous Sunderland colours this season.
New Black Cats stopper Jon McLaughlin has also sung Hume’s praises, claiming the youngster has considerable talent in an interview with the Northern Echo.
When speaking about Hume, McLaughlin said: “He’s a young lad with massive potential and he’s gone into the cup competition, impressed, and given the gaffer something to think about for the rest of the week.
“He showed a great attitude on Tuesday night to go out there and stamp his mark and he’s got his rewards for it. He played well again versus Fleetwood. He’s a very good player.”

McLaughlin himself has been one of Sunderland’s best performers in their unbeaten start this season and the 31-year-old even saved a penalty to salvage a point for the Black Cats last weekend.
But Hume has been the standout player for the Wearside side this term and the youngster has given manager Jack Ross another selection headache before Sunderland travel to Burton Albion this weekend.
