Reece James provided excellent cover for Bryan Oviedo in Sunderland’s recent 4-1 win over Gillingham.

Sunderland have began the 2018/19 League One campaign in an unbeaten fashion, and Jack Ross’s side currently sit fourth in the table.
The Black Cats have looked especially impressive in their last two games, scoring seven goals in two games, with a 3-0 home win over Scunthorpe United and a 4-1 win in midweek away to Gillingham.
Sunderland new boy Reece James, however, has stated that he thinks the Wearsiders can only get better in a recent interview with the official club website.
When speaking about the quality of Sunderland’s squad, James said: “We have a lot of quality and teams will be frightened by that – Charlie, Jerome and Aiden still have to come back – so we’re only going to get better.
“When you play for any club what you’re really doing is playing for the fans, so it’s only right that you give everything you can and I think, as a team, we’re doing that.” James added.

24-year-old James made his league debut for Sunderland in midweek in the Gillingham victory, and the loanee certainly didn’t look out of place.
In-form Bryan Oviedo could return to the Sunderland side at left-back to face AFC Wimbledon this weekend, but Sunderland’s manager will certainly have a welcome selection headache for that position.
