Sunderland currently sit third in the League One standings after 12 matches.

Sunderland currently sit third in the League One table and fans on Wearside will certainly be pleased with how their defining season has gone after 12 matches.
Jack Ross’s side have lost just once so far this campaign in the third tier and an instant return to the Championship is certainly very much achievable this season.
And Sunderland full-back Adam Matthews has revealed in an interview with the Sunderland Echo that he and his teammates are desperate to return to the big time.
When speaking about his and his teammates’ short-term goals, Matthews said: “It’s nice to win games. We haven’t had that feeling for a long time so hopefully this season we can get that feeling, win promotion and take it into the next season and kick on again.
“That’s our goal and what everyone in the changing room wants to do. It’s been brilliant so far and hopefully we can keep it going.”

The Welsh international has been an integral part of Ross’s plans at right-back this season and despite a short run of poor performances, Matthews bounced back with an impressive display against Carlisle United in midweek.
26-year-old Matthews set up the third goal with a magnificent pass for captain George Honeyman on Tuesday evening and the defender will be hoping to build on that with more impressive displays to help his side achieve success.
