Sunderland were taken over by Stewart Donald and Executive Director Charlie Methven earlier this year and their tenure so far has seen a successful three-month period on the pitch.

Off the field, Donald and Methven have been working tirelessly to repair the damage caused by the previous hierarchy on Wearside, while also assessing how the club can progress commercially in the coming years.

According to reports by the Chronicle, Sunderland are mulling over a potential change of badge and stadium name and fans on Wearside have taken to social media to react to the news.

The Black Cats’ current home, the Stadium of Light, has been in existence since the club moved from the old Roker Park back in 1997, but the current name could be changed in the coming months.

As well as the potential stadium name change, talks of a switch from the current badge, which has also been around since 1997, has stirred some mixed responses among the Wearside faithful.
