The Black Cats cashed-in on their young prospect, with Swansea City having a bid of £2million for the Swede accepted by Sunderland.

Sunderland have begun what their new owner Stewart Donald previously suggested, as they have started to cash in on players who allegedly do not wish to play for the Black Cats anymore.

The former Eastleigh chairman ensured that the club must first get rid of those who continue to play for Sunderland for the wrong reasons before they progress, which is perhaps why the Black Cats accepted a bid of just £2million for their young Swede Joel Asoro.

And Sunderland fans have taken to social media to react to the news that one of the biggest prospects within their ranks has left the club for Championship side Swansea.

Asoro only broke into the Sunderland first-team early on last season, but still managed to make 27 appearances for two different managers and even netted three goals.

The Swedish Under-21 international was a clear shining light in a dismal campaign, hence why he was rumoured to have attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, including Sunderland’s local rivals Newcastle United.

Asoro averaged a goal every 405 minutes in the Championship and struck up a dynamic partnership with Josh Maja, another young star on Wearside.

The highlight of Asoro’s season came away to Fulham, when the former IF Brommapojkarna forward went on a solo run and ended it with a beautiful strike from 25 yards out.

Despite Asoro’s efforts, Sunderland lost the game 2-1 at Craven Cottage, but the forward was one of the best players on the pitch that night, arguably the performance that ignited several clubs’ interest.

However, not all Sunderland fans believe the player was going to be very beneficial in the third tier of English football and some fans are even happy to see the back of the youngster.
