The 27-year-old has been close to the exit door for a while after a dreadful stint with Sunderland and now he has his move to the French side.

Sunderland have continued to follow up on what their owner Stewart Donald previously suggested would happen, and that is clearing out players who have little interest in playing for Jack Ross’s side in the new season.
One of those players who was always going to leave Wearside was forward Wahbi Khazri, who has spent the last month out in Russia with Tunisia in their World Cup campaign.
However, the Black Cats have wasted no time in moving on their player, with confirmation of Khazri’s move to French side St Etienne coming on Tuesday afternoon, and Sunderland fans have wasted no time reacting to the 27-year-old’s departure on social media.
Khazri joined Sunderland in the January transfer window back in the 2016/17 season and certainly hit the ground running, with a goal coming in his debut for the Black Cats in a 2-1 win at home to Manchester United.
However, the attacker had a horrific second half of the season after his dream debut, scoring just two more goals in 38 appearances in front of the Sunderland faithful.
The Tunisian moved on loan to Rennes last term, where he scored nine goals in 24 appearances for the French first division side, but returned to Wearside before flying out to Russia to play on the biggest footballing stage.

And, after an eye-catching performance in a World Cup group which included England, Panama and Belgium, St Etienne had a bid of £6million accepted for Khazri.
42-year-old Ross will be hoping to put that fee back into the club’s transfer kitty, with several new signings still needed for Sunderland’s League One campaign for the first time in 30 years.

And here is the best of the reaction to Khazri’s transfer to St Etienne…
