Fans on Wearside have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions on reports emerging from Sky Sports News which claim Brighton and Hove Albion have had a £2million offer for Paddy McNair turned down by Sunderland.

McNair had an encouraging end to Sunderland’s dismal Championship campaign last season and their fans will be hopeful that the 23-year-old will remain a key part of the Black Cats’ League One promotion bid.

McNair has made 25 appearances in his two seasons on Wearside and has been plagued by injuries, but Sunderland fans are adamant that the youngster can play a huge part next term if he is to stay with the club.

However, new manager Jack Ross could find it difficult to keep hold of McNair ahead of next term, with the youngster already attracting interest from Premier League clubs, including Brighton.

Unsurprisingly, Sunderland fans are not too happy with the lacklustre offer from Brighton. McNair originally joined the club for a fee of £5million with another Manchester United player in Donald Love, and the Black Cats will be looking to make a tidy profit on the player if they are to cash in.

However, unlike in the past, Sunderland will not be forced to take whatever money they can get for their player in order to afford other transfers, with new owner Stewart Donald steering the club in a new direction.
