Sunderland’s game against Peterborough United next week is the biggest of their season so far.

Sunderland’s League One schedule is beginning to really heat up, with a trip to the Ricoh Arena to face Coventry City on the horizon this weekend.

Jack Ross’ side sit third in the table and a win away from home would be massive on Saturday, especially against Mark Robins’ struggling side.

Although, with the Black Cats set to face their main promotion rivals Peterborough United next week, 42-year-old Ross should consider rotating his side ahead of the biggest game of the season so far.

Sunderland made 12 additions to their side ahead of their campaign in the third tier over the summer, some of which are yet to make a huge impact.

Jerome Sinclair and Luke O’Nien are yet to play a big part, whilst Aiden McGeady will also be itching for a start and all three men might be a good option to include in order for Ross to be able to rest key men ahead of the clash with the table toppers next week.

It will be important for Ross to strike a fine balance between resting too many players and having a good enough squad to compete with Coventry this weekend.

And with the first of three important games in seven days, it would certainly be wise for the former St Mirren manager to utilise his impressive squad ahead of their first meeting with Steve Evans’ side since 2013 on Tuesday evening.
