Sunderland captain George Honeyman has missed just eight minutes of League One football this season.

Sunderland captain George Honeyman has been a key feature in Jack Ross’ side in the first nine game of the 2018/19 season.
The 24-year-old has missed just eight minutes of League One football and also played the full match in Sunderland’s Carabao Cup loss to Sheffield Wednesday last month.
And after some recent jaded displays, 42-year-old Ross should consider starting 32-year-old attacker Aiden McGeady ahead of Honeyman in the attacking midfield role against Coventry City this weekend.
The Wearside team sit third in the League One table, but with three games in seven days, Ross will need to make full use of his strong squad, starting with their trip to the Ricoh Arena.
McGeady’s usual position is out on the left wing, but with the in-form Chris Maguire occupying that role and American Lynden Gooch on the right, the Irish international could be extremely effective in the centre with his flair.

Academy graduate and captain Honeyman has struggled in recent weeks and is clearly struggling with the hectic schedule and a spell out of the side before a huge game against Peterborough United next week could benefit him.
The Ricoh Arena also features one of the bigger pitches in the third tier and McGeady could make full use of that with his extra pace and ability to run at defenders, especially once the game becomes stretched late on.
