Sunderland are currently on a winning run of eight matches in all competitions.

Sunderland return to their beloved home this weekend as they take on Wycombe Wanderers in League One at the Stadium of Light in the first meeting between the pair in their recent history.

Jack Ross has guided his side to second in the third-tier, just three points away from league leaders Portsmouth – and if they win their game in hand, Sunderland could even top the table.

The Black Cats are now unbeaten in 10 matches, with eight-straight wins in all competitions – but the game this weekend will be the first match in the league for a fortnight and changes are expected to be made.

The Wearside team played Port Vale last weekend in the FA Cup, beating their opponents 2-1 to advance into the second-round and then on Tuesday evening, Ross’s side beat Morecambe 1-0 in the EFL Trophy.

Several of the younger members of the squad and even some fringe players featured in both ties, but this weekend we are predicting as many as nine changes to the side that beat Morecambe.

And expected to come back into the squad will be the likes of the impressive Jon McLaughlin and creative winger Chris Maguire – both of whom have been two of the integral players in the Sunderland first-team this term.

One player set to be one of the first name on his Scottish manager’s team sheet will be 19-year-old talisman Josh Maja, who took his season tally to double figures in midweek with a winning goal against the Shrimps.

The positive for 42-year-old Ross is that he has several of his senior players fit and ready to make an impact, but that will also bring somewhat of a selection headache, with pretty much all of the Sunderland side in a good run of form.

Max Power will be hoping he can keep his place in the side after captaining his team to a win in midweek, whilst Bryan Oviedo, Alim Ozturk and George Honeyman will be hoping they’ve done enough in the last two matches.

Below is how we predict the former Premier League regulars to set up against Gareth Ainsworth’s side, with nine changes to the young side which swept Morecambe aside on Tuesday night.
