Middlesbrough will want to get back to winning ways when they face the Trotters.

Middlesbrough lost for the first time this season against Norwich City last weekend, with Tony Pulis’s side on the end of a 1-0 loss at Carrow Road.

The Boro have now slipped down to fourth in the Championship, and a win in their next fixture against Bolton Wanderers is vital to keep with the promotion pack.

Pulis’s side return to the Riverside for the first time since the start of September, and their 60-year-old manager will need to play a more attacking style to the one his side have played in their recent matches.

Middlesbrough’s loss against Daniel Farke’s side last weekend was the worst performance of their season so far and their midfield three have come under criticism off the back of the defeat.

Pulis fielded Muhamed Besic, Adam Clayton and Jonny Howson, all of whom provide very little attacking threat from midfield, and the former Stoke City boss will need to change that in Boro’s return to Teeside this week.

Middlesbrough were also without talisman Martin Braithwaite for a long period of the game and the Danish international will likely return to the starting line-up on Wednesday.

Deadline day signing George Saville came on at Carrow Road just after the interval, and suggestions that the Northern Ireland international is set to start this week have been circulating among the Boro faithful.

Below is how we think Middlesbrough will line up against Bolton Wanderers, with two changes to the side from last weekend:
