Newcastle United haven’t enjoyed the best preparations ahead of their Premier League opener next weekend after some poor pre-season performances.

Newcastle United have had a poor summer on the field, with their latest pre-season defeat falling at the hands of German side FC Augsburg.
However, the Magpies have made some shrewd signings on the small transfer budget allocated by owner Mike Ashley, with Yoshinori Muto, Martin Dubravka and Ki Sung-Yueng having all arrived on Tyneside.
And Newcastle have made yet another signing today, with West Bromwich Albion forward Salomon Rondon joining Rafael Benitez’s side on loan and Newcastle fans have taken to social media to react to the news.
Rondon leaves the Hawthorns to join United with Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle going the opposite way, joining the Championship side in a bid to help them gain promotion back to the Premier League.
The 28-year-old Venezuelan arrived in the Midlands in 2015 and has made 108 appearances for the former Premier League regulars, scoring on 24 occasions.
Rondon often played as a defensive forward for the Baggies, assisting his team-mates on eight occasions and averaging a goal every 343 minutes.

Prior to joining West Brom three years ago, Rondon had a very impressive goalscoring record with his former clubs, scoring 20 goals in 37 appearances for Zenit Saint Petersburg and 13 goals in 36 showings for Rubin Kazan.
And Newcastle’s Spanish manager will be hoping the player he has signed on loan can recapture some of his form prior to the 2015/16 season, with the Magpies set to embark on their second season back in the Premier League.
Benitez will also be hopeful of signings some more recruits to bolster his squad for the 2018/19 Premier League campaign, with the Champions League winning boss certainly short in certain positions.
