George Saville joined Middlesbrough from Millwall late last month.
Middlesbrough manager Tony Pulis has always been known for his no-nonsense style of football, but this season his side have benefited from it – and remain unbeaten in all competitions.
Pulis has his team regimented in defence, and has often come under criticism for what can be regarded as negative tactics, especially at previous clubs West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City – two teams that Pulis kept in the Premier League, but, following Pulis’ departure, both now play their football in the Championship.
New Middlesbrough signing George Saville has now commented on his new manager’s tactics in an interview with Teeside Live.
Saville said: “The style of play is not like the fantastic football Manchester City will play, but he is effective and he knows how to win football matches in the Championship.
“That’s what it is about – getting out of the league. Tony knows how to win football matches and that’s all I care about.” The midfielder added.
Saville moved to Teeside on loan from Millwall late last month, with a permanent move set for January when Middlesbrough will pay around £7m, according to Sky Sports.
The 25-year-old is yet to make his first start for Middlesbrough, but could feature when the Championship promotion hopefuls travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City next weekend.
